Things to do
There are a number of ways to follow in Burns’ footsteps and explore his life in and around Dumfries.

Around Ellisland
Take a look around the farmhouse and stables at Ellisland, wander down to the banks of the River Nith, or spend time looking through the artefacts in the Granary to get an idea of what life was like at Ellisland in the 18th century.

Ellisland to The Hermitage
Walk along the Banks of the River Nith, just as Burns would have done, from Ellisland to The Hermitage at Friars Carse House Hotel. Explore the grounds of the hotel, once owned by Burns’ friend Robert Riddell.

Town Centre Trail
This town centre trail, created by Dumfries and Galloway Council, is a fantastic way to see a number of the partners featured in this project.
